Katherine McClure, LMSW, MAPP
Clinical Social Worker, National Presenter,
Trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Children
Katie McClure is a Licensed Master Social Worker, with a passion for mental health and wellbeing. Katie obtained her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, specializing in mental health and obtaining her School Social Work Certificate. She went on to build her professional expertise in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), working multiple years in comprehensive DBT program settings, and obtaining training from leaders in the field in comprehensive DBT, DBT Skills Training, DBT for Adolescents and Families, DBT for Eating Disorders, and DBT for Children.
Katie continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania, studying the science of wellbeing and earning her Master of Applied Positive Psychology. Katie has a passion for prevention, believing that we all deserve to lead a happy and fulfilling life, but knowing that most of our education and professional training in today’s world does not actually teach us the skills and strategies of how to do so. The CDC states that “Mental health is not simply the absence of a mental health condition—it is also about the presence of well-being and the ability to thrive.”
Through Wise & Well, Katie strives to address both ends of the dialectic, helping individuals manage challenging mental health needs, while also educating the community on the science of wellbeing, so that individuals can take their health into their own hands. Currently, Katie’s work at Wise & Well supports children and adolescents struggling with mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. She offers a comprehensive DBT for Children (DBT-C) program to support families of children struggling with strong emotions and challenging behaviors. Katie also heads preventative programming that brings the science of happiness and wellbeing to people of all ages, in easy, fun, and applicable ways.
